About Eating on Lake Como: the back story
In the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Italia, four restaurants around the lake hold One Star: Kitchen in Como, Materia in Cernobbio, Il Sereno Al Lago at Torno and Il Cantuccio at Albavilla, in the hills above Como. Around them, the grand hotels’ restaurants, the lakeside trattorias and the tables of the Lecco shore, many in the MICHELIN Guide, cook lake fish, risotto and, from the mountains to the north, the buckwheat pizzoccheri and the wines of Valtellina.

Kitchen, on the road from Como to Cernobbio, Materia in Cernobbio, Il Sereno Al Lago at Torno and Il Cantuccio at Albavilla each hold One MICHELIN Star in the 2026 guide.
The hotel terraces
La Veranda at Villa d’Este and Mistral at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni are in the MICHELIN Guide; Mandarin Oriental has L’Aria, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo La Terrazza Gualtiero Marchesi, and The Lake Como EDITION Cetino by Mauro Colagreco.
Book ahead in summer, and check the season: many lakeside restaurants close in winter.
Around the lake
The MICHELIN Guide also lists Feel Como and Comi 107 in Como, Roteo at Sala Comacina, Filo at Lezzeno, Visteria and the Hosteria del Platano at Varenna, Beccaccino at Sorico on the upper lake, and, on the Lecco shore, Nicolin, Lisander, Villa Giulia – Al Terrazzo, Il Giardinetto and Amandus.
Lake fish and the mountains
Look for perch and the other lake fish on risotto, the sun-dried missoltini with polenta, and, from Valtellina, pizzoccheri and the Sfursat wine.
Our advice: see our article on Lake Como cuisine for the dishes to look for.
