Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002)
George Lucas chose the Villa del Balbianello at Lenno for the lakeside retreat of Naboo, where Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala share their first kiss, as Regione Lombardia’s tourism site and Italy’s official tourism site record. The villa is run by the FAI and open to visitors in season.
Casino Royale (2006)
In Daniel Craig’s first Bond, the Villa del Balbianello is where Bond recovers after his torture, with Vesper at his side, and the loggia sees their famous kiss; the final scene, where Bond confronts Mr White, was filmed at the Villa La Gaeta, as Italy’s official tourism site describes.
Ocean’s Twelve (2004)
Steven Soderbergh’s sequel takes its gang of thieves to Europe, and parts of it take place on Lake Como, as Regione Lombardia’s tourism site notes.
A Month by the Lake (1995)
John Irvin’s romantic comedy, with Vanessa Redgrave, Edward Fox and Uma Thurman, is set on Lake Como in the 1930s; Italy’s official tourism site lists it among the productions filmed at the Villa del Balbianello. We found no official trailer online, so none is shown here.
